PMS, the mountain

Saturday was a nice day for a ski. Back country consists of gear (and lots of it) food (ditto), water (yeah) and did I mention gear.

I have very little left in the knee department. Since I didn't learn how to downhill ski until I was around 35 there is no getting over the fact that I'll never be 'good'. I tried telemark skiing and well...it was more fun hiking up the mountain than skiing down.

I now use randonee gear, also known at AT gear. This just means that you can "free" your heels so that you can climb up the hill - then "lock" them down so that you downhill ski down the mountain. This made things "way better for me".

My husband grew up on skiis. He uses both styles and has several different skis. His favorite ski is the Reverend, I'm skiing AT Volkl Aura's with dynastar bindings.

I don't know if I'll ever appreciate resort skiing again. Even on a crowded day it's just so much better being out there in the mountains. A crowd is 25 people.

Oh, Skiing is an exciting sport. I have experienced this kind of excitement last winter in Yabuli Ski Resort of China!
It is said that it is one of the best natural skiing resorts in China.
